The most charming feature of this Ace Books Paperback is that is signed and carries an insription by Le Guin."For Graham Ursula LeGuin.
Covert art-work is missing in two places on front cover and close to spine. There are chips and wear. Inside of both covers are tanned and foxed. The back cover has an 8mm tear close to the spine. The spine is bent but intact and looks likely an unread copy. First leaf has a tear which effects blurb page and illustrated page facing signed title page, all pages tanned. Top right first page a written price marking has been erased and indentations remain.

Le Guin passed away in 2018 after receiving numerous accolades, including eight Hugos, six Nebulas, and twenty-two Locus Awards, and in 2003 became the second woman honored as a Grand Master of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Le Guin influenced many other authors, including Booker Prize winner Salman Rushdie, David Mitchell, Neil Gaiman, and Iain Banks. After her death in 2018, critic John Clute wrote that Le Guin had "...presided over American science fiction for nearly half a century".
